Thanks Anna! That is one of the two street trees at the front of our block, Eucalyptus mannifera , aka White Brittle Gum. Apart from their beautiful white trunks they put on this amazing display of colour just before they shed their bark. Not only do they go this bright crimson, but they also turn deep ilive green.
What are you using as a surface layer to stitch? Is it cloth? Your layers beautifully echo the bark of the trees.
