I am currently working through some fairly tedious passages of mark making on one of my pieces, so yesterday I decided to give myself a break and have a play.
Stitching on a piece of bubble-wrap envelope presented itself. Apart from using different colours of thread, the other change I made between the two pieces was to have one that was stitched in a fairly regular pattern and one which was stitched as randomly as I could manage.
My grandmother told me the back of any needlework should always be as beautiful as the front. And these are! I expecially love the black on yellow.(K)

I expect most grandmother’s said something like that! Thank you. I also like the black thread one. What I can’t share is the sense of touch. As I have been working on my stitching every day for a year piece, I find the texture of the work becomes more compelling. These also felt good.

Nothing replaces the textures of hand work. That’s why I could never convert entirely to digital.
