I’ve always been captivated by David Hockney’s photograpic collages, starting with Pearblossom Highway, 11th-18th April, 1986.
Mine still have a way to go. Here is my first attempt with the new footbridge being built across Drakeford Drive.
The shadow theme that I started as a textile group project has really taken hold. Here is a composite of 6 gouaches I’ve done using shadows I’ve collected, predominantly around my house. The lower right image was from a visit to the CSIRO Discovery Centre.
This work was inspired by the work of Junko Oki, a Japanese artist who does beautiful work in stitch. I was hoping to find some red fabric to add to the side of this piece, when I decided that I could add the colour through embroidery.
