Yesterday the local Lao Buddhist temple held its annual food fair. The place was packed and the food was delicious. We took it in turns to choose dishes to eat and in the interim sketched the scene.
Hundreds of people were there and overhead flags and bunting fluttered.

After a while we shifted to a spot in the shade. I decided to paint the symbolic decorations on the top of the temple roof. Unfortunately I didn’t quite allow enough space for the very top of the central spire.

Did I mention that the food was really good. Having eaten our fill we bought some to take home for later.

Lao food is so good! I stayed with a Lao friend in London whilst I was on my recent Thai massage course and he cooked for me. Mmmm. Are you exhibiting in Canberra any time soon? My sister lives there and I’m sure she would love to see your work.

Hi Mike, small world isn’t it! I’m not exhibiting in Canberra at present. My next exhibition will be in Gosford on the Central Coast of New South Wales, north of Sydney. My sister spent a week on the central coast a few weeks ago. It was supposed to be a holiday but the incredible weather turned it into something of an adventure drama. Good luck with that exhibition – I’ll recommend it.
